FLEXcon, a leading manufacturer of pressure-sensitive films, today announced the availability of its Underwriters Laboratory (UL) approved backsheet products, namely FLEXcon multiGUARD®. Manufacturers of photovoltaic panels will benefit from using FLEXcon’s UL approved backsheets in order to speed development of solar modules with a guaranteed quality result that meets industry standards.
UL is the United States’ largest and oldest recognized testing laboratory, which offers consumers the confidence in continuous product compliance when making their purchases. Manufacturers submit their products to UL for testing and safety certification on a voluntary basis. FLEXcon has achieved UL approval and has worked to address the needs of their customers, while providing a safe and compliant product. Backsheet compliance with established North American standards is crucial to obtaining UL certification for an end product. In addition to assessing the module itself, UL evaluates the properties of its critical components. Photovoltaic module manufacturers reduce the risk of delay to market if the critical components used in their products are already tested and certified by UL. Manufacturers can also benefit from an increased level of safety in the design of the end product and enhanced supply chain management.
