FLEXcon to Provide Wrapping Material for Trains Transporting Children with Life-Threating Illnesses to the North Pole

Bus WrapFLEXcon, an innovator in adhesive coating and laminating, today announced it has been selected by DAXAM, Inc. to help produce graphics for Operation North Pole (ONP), a public charity event taking place in Chicago, Ill. on December 7, 2013. Working with Chicago area Ronald McDonald Houses, their affiliated children’s hospitals, the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital and more, ONP will provide families with children suffering from life threatening illnesses a fun-filled start to the holiday season with the fantasy experience of traveling to the North Pole via Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest line.

The event includes an array of activities such as tree decorating, face painting and games along with refreshments and gifts for all upon departure. The train cars will be wrapped by DAXAM, Inc. with seasonal graphics designed by Saatchi & Saatchi X, using FLEXcon's BUSart™ Air Egress and SEETHRU-SIGN® White/Black Flex 2 products, which have been donated.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating Operation North Pole’s fifth year of bringing holiday revelry to the Chicago-area families who need it most,” said Tim Crossin, co-founder, Operation North Pole. “Just like in years past, the fantasy experience will also extend through the holiday season, as the trains will continue to be used by park districts all throughout the city.”

“To deliver a beautifully wrapped train for the event, we knew we could once again call upon FLEXcon to help bring these graphics to life,” said Wojtek Drobek, vice president, DAXAM, Inc. “The ease of handling during installation and clean removability following the conclusion of the event made FLEXcon’s BUSart Air Egress and SEETHRU-SIGN lines a natural choice for the project.”

FLEXcon’s BUSart™ Air Egress product with air egress release liner technology is designed for short-term, large-format graphics on simple or compound curved surfaces. Applications include smooth column wraps, elevator doors, table/bar tops, and window graphics, along with signage laminated to rigid substrates. Its aggressive removable adhesive is designed to remove cleanly from a variety of surfaces.
BUSart Air Egress is printable via UV and solvent screen, UV and solvent inkjet and electronic static transfer. SEETHRU-SIGN White/Black Flex 2 (STSWBF2) perforated window film is used on the windows of vehicles and offers superior conformability to curved surfaces. The perforated film provides optical clarity for see-thru viewing from the inside out and graphics visibility when viewing from the outside looking in. It is printable via UV and solvent screen, UV and solvent inkjet and is HP Latex compatible (HP Designjet L65500, HP Scitex LX600, LX820, LX850 and LX800 Printers).

“It is an honor to join the many upstanding organizations that help make Operation North Pole happen each year,” said Mike Chevalier, new business development manager, FLEXcon. “FLEXcon’s involvement in Operation North Pole speaks to our enduring commitment to the communities in which we do business.”
