FLEXcon, an innovator in adhesive coating and laminating, announces it supports manufacturers of photovoltaic panels with backsheets that are manufactured in the U.S., allowing manufacturers to meet the requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). FLEXcon continues its market leadership by delivering its customers with a high-quality product that meets strict regulatory requirements for state and federally funded infrastructure projects.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) requires that all iron, steel and manufactured goods used in public works jobs are produced in the U.S. This provision ensures the support of domestic companies and domestic workers, in order to increase job opportunities and stimulate the economy. In 2009, the ARRA allocated $787 billion for a wide range of federal programs to support job growth. ARRA Section 1605 states that infrastructure projects involving construction, alteration, maintenance or repair of public buildings or public works must be accomplished using iron, steel and manufactured goods produced in the U.S. This means that solar panels used in public works projects must be developed in the U.S. along with the components. By using FLEXcon’s U.S. manufactured backsheets, photovoltaic manufacturers are able to provide their products to public buildings or public works projects, dramatically increasing their revenue opportunities.
1SolTech, a manufacturer of solar panels for residential and commercial buildings, constructs its products in the U.S. They incorporate FLEXcon’s U.S. manufactured backsheets as a key component in order to meet ARRA requirements. 1SolTech sources up to 92 percent of its module components from U.S. -based vendors and manufacture all solar modules at their Dallas, TX facility – a new 53,000 ft facility located in Farmers Branch.
“FLEXcon not only produces backsheets that meet the ARRA requirement, but it produces a product that meets our high expectations of quality. FLEXcon is a perfect match for 1SolTech, two American companies that produce quality products,” said Sandy Fardi, CEO and Owner of 1SolTech. “We’re looking forward to growing our business and working with FLEXcon in the future, as the economy strengthens and the photovoltaic industry advances.”
“FLEXcon prides itself on being a leading supplier and manufacturing its products in the U.S. We provide our customers with the highest level of quality and service in the marketplace,” said Michelle Ostiguy, Market Development Specialist, Photovoltaic, FLEXcon. “Our team of resources and ability to meet the ARRA standards opens up new opportunities and new streams of revenue for photovoltaic panel manufacturers. We are proud to help fuel job opportunities and economic growth for our country during these uncertain times.”
