FLEXcon, an innovator in adhesive coating and laminating, today announced that Ken Koldan, FLEXcon New Business Development Manager, has been appointed by the AIM North America Board of Directors, as Chairperson of the Unique Device Identification (UDI) committee, for the inaugural 2012 term.
As the premier source of industry support for the automatic identification and data capture industry, the AIM North America chapter delivers access to information, education, advocacy, standards, and connecting customers with cutting-edge solution providers in the market place. AIM NA looked at the current trends in the healthcare industry and recognized that there was a need for a forum to address issues and questions surrounding the FDA’s proposed rule of Unique Device Identification (UDI) from end-users.
“Ken brings tremendous business experience and additional breadth of expertise to the UDI Committee,” said Don Ertel, Chairperson of the AIM NA. “His willingness to advance automatic identification and data capture in the healthcare industry is commendable.”
"I look forward to serving the constituents of AIM North America and the medical device community,” said Koldan. “The proposed rule raises critical issues impacting the FDA and related manufacturers. The goal of the committee is to help all parties meet key goals, such as helping to reduce medical errors and identify and reduce product counterfeiting. I am proud to support the mission of the FDA and advance the current proposal." Koldan joined FLEXcon in 2008 and focuses on sharing FLEXcon’s expertise and developing product solutions to design engineers, brand owners, and economic buyers within the asset visibility, electronics, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration (AHR), security, and appliance markets. Koldan was previously at Motorola where he served as Director of Business Development and gained extensive experience in strategic planning and new market development. Ken holds an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He also served as Chairman of The UID Supplier Alliance for 2010 AIM North America term and is a member of the AIM North America Board of Directors.
